Here at Thelwall Junior School we are fortunate enough to have a fully qualified ELSA. We are one of a few schools within the borough who have access to this therapy.
ELSA is a therapeutic Intervention that helps with underlying emotional difficulties that may be affecting a child’s learning and behaviour
Mrs Greenfield, our ELSA Lead works with identified children either in a 1:1 capacity or in small groups. There are a number of reasons as to why a child may attend these sessions and each child benefits from a tailor-made programme specifically designed to support their individual needs.
Children that may benefit from ELSA Intervention:
- Social Skills
- Emotional suffering – Anxiety, stress or phobias
- Attachment Disorder
- Trauma

- Social Stories – Therapeutic Stories
- Anger Management
- Behaviour Management

Here at Thelwall Juniors we aim to develop the confidence, resilience and high self-esteem of each of our pupils to enable them to overcome difficulties in order to achieve. Wellbeing is fundamental to the overall health, approach and success of an individual. ELSA provides the reassurance, guidance and support needed to enrich a positive mind-set.
ELSA is offered through the internal referral system HOPE. However, should you feel that your child may benefit from this programme for any of the above reasons, please do not hesitate to get in contact with our SENDCo Clair Hallsworth on challsworth@thelwalljunior.co.uk
